Medieval town in the Gauja valley with a castle ruins and St. John's Church. The surrounding Gauja National Park has hiking trails and medieval Livonian Order sites. Good for a day trip from Riga.

Western Latvia region with cape Kolkasrags where the Baltic Sea meets the Gulf of Rīga. The port town of Liepāja has a distinctive church with no steeple. Remote and beautiful.
